Alien Worlds has opened up round 2 of their community grants program. These grants are open to proposals from anyone with an idea for improving or expanding on the Alien Worlds ecosystem. The proposals that pass receive a stipend of TLM tokens to help pay for their development..
Alien Worlds introduced their Galactic Hubs grant program in the summer of 2022. One item that came from the first round of grants was the Battledome, a third party game that utilizes Alien Worlds NFTs for PvP battles. Now, applications are open for round two.
Specifically, grants from the Alien Worlds Galactic Hubs program come in two tiers, Development and Pioneer. Development grants go to smaller projects that can deliver their product within a couple of months. These grants can receive up to 500k TLM. Development grants receive payment on completion and review of the project. Pioneer grants are longer term projects with varying pay schedules
The proposals can include anything related to the Alien Worlds universe. Thus, they can be additional tools, infrastructure, stories, artwork, games that use Alien Worlds tokens and NFTs, interfaces, monitoring system, and more! For both types of grants, developers receive guidance from the Alien Worlds team, access to the APIs and documentation, and marketing for the product when it’s finished.
It will be interesting to see what sort of proposals make it through the process. It feels like there is plenty of room for building more tooling and interfaces around the Syndicate system.
Applications remain open until March 31st, 2023. To apply visit https://ghubs.alienworlds.io/.
Catching up with Syndicates
Not long ago Alien Worlds opened the first version of their Syndicate program. This allowed player run governments to develop for each of the six planets. Custodians, or the government for each Planet, are elected by players who stake TLM tokens to that planet.
The Syndicates have been busy so far. Offering up proposals to combat bots, provide NFTs to miners, distribute extra Trilium to miners, cross-functionality with other games, and more. There is even a quest based system in development called Mission Control that partners with other WAX projects.
To keep up with all of the Syndicate news, check out the Syndicate Underground articles in the Alien Worlds Medium feed. You can also get involved by jumping into Discord and discussing and voting on various proposals for your favorite planet!
What is Alien Worlds?
Alien Worlds is an exploration and mining game in which players can own land, use tools to mine for Trilium (TLM), the game token, customize their avatars, and send ships on missions to earn TLM and rare NFTs. Players can also earn TLM through mining, and then spend the tokens to upgrade tools and weapons. Alien Worlds recently introduced the first phase of Syndicates, a player run, DAO-based, planetary governance system.
In a notable cross-chain effort, Trilum bridges the Wax, Ethereum, and Binance blockchains, allowing the economies of all three chains to merge into one. Players can transfer TLM tokens back and forth on the networks using the official teleport page.
