AlterVerse, a gaming metaverse in development, brings us a successful alpha preview of Sky City, the main metaversal social hub. Open to those with Citizen and Founder NFTs, this alpha preview let players own land, customize buildings, and participate in various games and contests.
AlterVerse is building an interconnected collection of gaming servers with Sky City as the central social hub. This past weekend (November 11th – 13th), they opened a preview of Sky City to a small group of people holding their Citizen or Founder NFTs.
Sky City is Phase 1 of the AlterVerse. This is the main social hub with shops and land ownership. It also features quests, mini-games, PvP contests, and other activities. Players can already purchase various items and skin NFTs in the official shop.
Sky City Alpha
For the alpha, players had a chance to own land, constructing their own houses, fly sky cars around, explore the city and surrounding areas, and engage in PvP and other mini-games. Overall reports from the play test are positive, with players saying it was a smooth and enjoyable experience. Alpha players posted a number of screenshots and the graphics look great!
The team received some good feedback from the participants and already has a list of new bug fixes ready to go for their next round of alpha, scheduled for December 12th, 2022.
This first alpha preview was only open to holders of Citizen and Founder NFTs. But future alpha and beta tests will open to gradually larger audiences. If you’re interested, you can request early access here. Alternatively, you can also purchase a Lifetime Citizen membership from the AlterVerse store. This cost $100 and provide a unique Citizen number, access to higher level titles, increased earning potential, voting rights, invitations to special events, and free access to AlterVerse for life! However, only 2,000 of these spots are available, with about 1,000 left at the time of this article.
What is AlterVerse?
AlterVerse is a new metaverse in development. With a decentralized, 3D, multiplayer, interconnected, VR-enabled platform, AlterVerse aims to claim a spot in an increasingly crowded field.
Servers for AlterVerse are player owned, with various customizeable, pre-built environments and games. Newly launched game servers are automatically added to the server list for players to access. At the center of this lies Sky City, a social hub with customizable spaces and storefronts for partnerships. One of those partners Double Protocol, and NFT renting system. Not only will Double Protocol own an in-game office, but they will also power the in-game rental market, allowing players to rent out land plots and other items!
Sky City is considered Phase 1 of the AlterVerse. Phase 2 includes Outpost, a FPS, sci-fi shooter with quests, mining and crafting. Phase 3 brings us Rekt, a hard core survival game set on a hostile planet Sky City is currently going through alpha playtests. Expect to see the Sky City Beta, and alphas for both Outpost and Rekt within the first half of next year.
