As the NFT market expands, and play-to-earn is in its ascendency, it’s time to say goodbye to one of the true innovators of the industry. So, with a heavy heart, Battle Racers has announced it will wind down operations, ceasing to exist as of February 16, 2022, thereby marking the end of a major trailblazer of the NFT movement.

After three years of tiny car mayhem, the Battle Racers team has decided that it can no longer do the project justice and give it the time and attention it deserves. As a result, development will cease on its web, mobile and metaverse-based platforms, giving fans a little under a month to get their affairs in order. After which, both Battle Racers and Playcheck Games will conclude operations, with the team moving on to new pastures.

A glimmer of hope remains for the mighty racers however, as the team will ensure that all related NFTs are secure and validated on the blockchain. Collectors will still maintain ownership and control of their assets, while open-sourced smart contracts will enable community developers to resurrect the tiny vehicles in future projects.

This will mark a sad day for one of the original play-to-earn titles in the digital space. So, head on down to the Decentraland track while there is still time, and give Battle Racers the send off it deserves.
