Cardano’s NFT project, Clay Nation, is making waves in the Web3 gaming world, and things are about to take another giant leap forward for virtual mankind.
Clay Nation is set to be the first Cardano project to join The Sandbox, a virtual world where players can create and monetize their gaming experiences using the Ethereum blockchain and the native token SAND.
The project’s integration with The Sandbox is a big deal, as it will help promote Web3 interoperability among two of the biggest blockchains.
The project announced on Twitter that it’s collaborating with Smobler Studios, a Singapore-based metaverse architecture and creative agency funded by The Sandbox Game and Brinc. Together, they plan to create an immersive gaming experience for fans.
Although this is the only news we know about it so far, it’s certainly exciting and should see adoption not just in the Web3 space, but for the Cardano and Ethereum blockchains.
What Is Clay Nation
Clay Nation is a collection of 10,000 unique digital characters made from handcrafted clay and stored on the Cardano blockchain.
The $CLAY token is the main utility and governance token for the project, and it will be used for all transactions within the virtual environment of Clay Nation.
You can trade Clay Nation on Clay Space, a one-stop-shop marketplace where members can buy, sell, and trade Clay Nation assets exclusively with $CLAY tokens.
Last year, Clay Nation developers Claymates announced a collaboration with American rock band Good Charlotte, launching the GC X Clay Nation, a selection of Trick or Treat inspired NFTs.
Another collaboration saw them drop a full-length music video for “Bron and Bronny,” a collab between Snoop Dogg and Champ Medici, his son. Cardano founder, Charles Hoskinson appeared in the video.
SpaceBudz – Cardano’s Record-Breaking NFT Collection
The most expensive Clay Nation NFT has gone for just over $200,000, which is a very respectable amount, but it’s dwarfed by Cardano’s main NFT collection SpaceBudz.
SpaceBudz is Cardano’s main NFT collection, with some going for over $1 million.
SpaceBudz launched in March of 2021, and is the inaugural algorithmically-generated NFT collection on the Cardano blockchain, comprised of 10,000 unique pieces of digital artwork.
The collection features charming depictions of animals donning space suits, hand-drawn with care.
It quickly gained popularity within the Cardano community for being one of the first NFT collections, creating the NFT metadata standard, and launching the first fully smart contract-based marketplace.
Exciting Times for Blockchain Interoperability
With Clay Nation developers, Claymates, taking their biggest collection into the Sandbox, an Ethereum-based platform, it’s a win-win for all concerned.
Clay Nation owners should definitely benefit from the interest in their digital assets and a rise in valuation is most likely.
Some see it as a way for the developers to transition from Cardano to Ethereum, but Claymates are grounded in Cardano and would be the main beneficiaries of an interoperable set of NFTs.
It’s certainly early days, but if this is a success, there’s no reason SpaceBudz and all other NFT collections on all blockchains cant integrate. Exciting times!
