CoinGecko, a leading data provider for the crypto market, announced this week that it has added a new centralized rewards system to drive user engagement on its platform.

According to the recent announcement, the new reward currency, called CoinGecko Candy, can be earned on a daily basis for simply visiting the website. Candies aren’t tokens or NFTs (yet) and can’t be transferred, but can be redeemed for rewards and discounts on unique NFTs from games like Axie Infinity and Blockchain Heroes.

“We feel that the loyalty and support that you show towards us in building an independent data aggregator has been nothing short of amazing, and we would like to show our appreciation,” said CoinGecko in the announcement. “These Candies that we share will provide you access to a wide range of popular and well-loved services and products within the crypto sector.”

The more consecutive days a user visits the website, the larger the compounding effect for Candies. This looks to be on a weekly schedule where the seventh consecutive day provides the largest reward.

While it’s unfortunate the popular website chose not to tokenize its reward point system at launch, the announcement does suggest the team plans to down the road.
