The Watch-to-earn model has been popular within the blockchain industry for a while now and for good reason; it essentially rewards people for doing things that they would have done either way. Now, NBA fans can get a piece of the NFT pie thanks to a new deal between Warner Bros. Discovery Sports and Immutable X

The two have launched B/R Watch 2 Earn, a fan rewards program, which made its debut on the  NBA on TNT broadcast.

How the Program Works

How fans can benefit from this program is by correctly answering basketball-related trivia questions. A QR code will appear during the broadcast that can be scanned to access the trivia page or users can visit BRW2E.com to participate. For the questions they answer correctly, they will receive B/R W2E tokens which were developed by Immutable X.

By doing this, they can redeem their tokens for NFT video reels, which have become quite popular over the last year thanks to NBA Top Shot, as well as items like hoodies and t-shirts. Furthermore, as the team behind the initiative has explained, this is a new way to connect fans to the sports they love.

“With blockchain and digital collectibles, fans have a unique way to be engaged with the show and participate in the show in interesting ways. We want to get to a place where you collect tokens and you’ll be able to impact what you may see on air. So the more that you participate, the more you can get involved,” says Yang Adija, SVP of Digital League Business Operations, Growth & Innovation at WBD Sports.
