Today we will take a first look at the turn-based roguelike RPG Legends of Lairds. This project interacts with MultiverseX (old Elrond Network) and was recently added to Myria.
Legends of Lairds is an old-school free-to-play RPG available on Desktop and Android. The project is in its early stages of development and its demo can be downloaded from their discord. The team categorizes the game as a ‘play-to-earn metaverse’ and players will be able to earn $KCAL and Smart NFTs. Smart NFTs are NFTs but with additional properties like being upgradable or time-limited for example. Accordingly to their flash paper, these blockchain assets can be traded inside and outside the game.
Legends of Lairds might be the game for challenge lovers. Players can not flee a battle once it starts and they might suffer from permadeath. The graphics are good-looking and the style looks like the one from Animes. The gameplay is turn-based and it is strategic and not fast-paced. Players will have an array of weapons at their disposal and each weapon is linked to a different playstyle. In the game, there are also procedurally generated dungeons.
This web3 RPG can be played either Solo or with a tribe (guilds), and offers both PvE and PvP experiences. Players can either travel by foot or raft when in the sea or tame monsters like dragons to be used as mounts.
Players can also get the title of ‘Laird’ by owning an island that can be used to:
- Renting
- Grow resources
- Grow monsters
- Attrack Landers to fight on an ‘Island Skirmish’
Then, there is crafting and every crafted item will become a Smart NFT that can be traded or auctioned to other players.

Last Thoughts
Personally, I think the main idea behind Legends of Lairds is good, but, what is not good is their discord and telegram being completely dead. Everything I wrote before was based on information I got from their flash paper, which I am not sure how updated it is. I did not try the discord version of ‘Legends of Lairds’ so I do not know which of the features mentioned in the first part of the article are currently available. There are no mods both on discord or telegram and no one answers their Twitter.
The last post on Twitter was on November 6th which might be an indicator that there is work being done behind the curtains.
Project teams sometimes choose to solely develop games in the first months and only focus on community growth and marketing at a later stage. This might be the case here. I also took a look at Myria’s official website and there it is, ‘Legends of Lairds’ in their list.
