A new FPS enters the web3 arena, as FORA launches their first beta. This free to play FPS is still open to adding new beta testers and the team is interested in hearing feedback from their players.
The number of web3-enabled, FPS games continues to grow. One of the latest additions is FORA, a free to play FPS will the stated goal of becoming the ‘Fortnite of web3’. Interestingly, the team was originally planning to build Forgotten Worlds, a large scale MMO. But, they decided that their MMO vision was too massive for the current playerbase, so they pivoted into a first-person / third person shooter game!
Built on the Lyra engine in Unreal 5, FORA already boasts some slick looking graphics. Access to the beta is still pretty open. Check their official Twitter and Discord channels for opportunities to join.
Minimum system requirements for the beta:
CPU: Intel Core i3-530 2.9GHz
RAM: 4 GB RAM
GPU: GTS 250, GeForce 9800 GTX, Radeon HD 3870 X2
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
STO: 39 GB available space
RES: 1280×720
NET: Broadband Internet connection
This initial beta test will be limited, but the ultimate plans for FORA include multiple game modes such as deathmatch, capture point, payload push, and battle royale, weekly deathmatch tournaments with cash and NFT prizes, leaderboards, unique 1/1 skins, equipment, and much more!
FORA also plans to include play and earn opportunities with their game passes.
Play and Earn with FORA Game Passes
FORA has scheduled a mint for the Genesis Game Passes on February 23rd. These passes will offer additional game rewards and earnings to holders. There will be four levels available, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The Genesis edition will consist of 15,000 passes, but only 5,000 will be available during this first sale. Planned cost is 0.045 ETH for whitelist, 0.075 ETH for the public.
Of the first 5,000 passes, 100 will be Platinum, 350 Gold, 850 Silver, and the rest Bronze. Pass holders will be able to claim game skins at a later point. Bronze pass holder get two Exosuit skins while Silver will be able to claim three Exosuit skins. Meanwhile Gold passes will get four Exosuit skins AND two weapon skins, and Plantinum passes receive six Exosuit skins and three weapon skins! These skins will be tradeable on the marketplace.
More About FORA
Oddly, FORA doesn’t have a website. Or any sort of documentation for that matter. Just a Twitter account and a Discord server. This is somewhat understandable considering they just recently pivoted to making FORA in late 2022. But if they want to be taken seriously and gain more traction in the web3 space, they will need to work on building a stronger web presence.
The team plans to launch quickly once they get the base game coded and tested. They will then work on adding new features maps and game modes. In the meantime, you can play their beta test and give them your feedback on their project!
