Multinational banking giant, HSBC, has announced it will bring the Hong Kong Sevens into The Sandbox, resulting in a whole array of rugby-related challenges making their way onto the expansive virtual environment.

Representing perhaps the second greatest spectator’s sport on earth, the Hong Kong Sevens will return after a 3-year hiatus on November 4. So, to get folks up to speed with the ins and outs of the game, HSBC will deploy a grand rugby stadium in The Sandbox, where it will call on the educational potential of the medium to teach metaverse folks all about the sport.

Those with an eye for the finer side of rugby can join the fun from October 24 until November 14, where they will meet 6 different bespoke rugby-themed challenges, mini games, and quizzes, all with a chance to win exclusive tickets for the physical tournament held in the heart of Hong Kong.

The announcement marks HSBC’s continued exploration into the Sandbox realm, where earlier in the year it purchased its own prime real estate within a burgeoning platform. This all with an end goal to create a hub for sports, esports and gaming within the metaverse.
