An integral part of Polychain Islands is here: Please welcome $PMGL & Genesis Land plots — find them in booster packs now!
Oh boy, buckle up because today’s update is going to be big. As we approach our first full year of operation, Polychain Monsters has undergone many changes, upgrades and iterations along the way. Our project and team have had to wear many hats, and we do this happily in order to bring about the best possible product for our beloved community members. Truly, without you all, none of this would be possible.
We love our Polymon, and we know you do too. Currently, our collections of monsters live in our collector wallets, diligently staking to earn us $PMON day-in and day-out. What’s been missing so far, is a way to take our Polymon to the next level. A way to use our Polymon NFTs in say… a gaming environment?
Polychain Islands is more than simply a game. Our vision is to create a place where the Polychain Monsters community can play, work, socialize and start meaningful projects together with each other and their Polymon.
We think that the foundation for a thriving community is a well-balanced, sustainable and entertainingly gamified economy, which will enable players to “own” the game in a sense and to be rewarded for becoming a valuable part of the community.
Even though we have briefly covered parts of Polychain Islands before, there is still much to do as we work every day to bring you the gaming experience we know you crave and deserve. Today we are excited to bring you the first step in the grand process of our eventual Polychain Islands release.
First, let us set the scene. We know information so far has been scarce, so in order to give you a better idea of the scope of what we expect Polychain Islands to contain, here’s a list of core features we are hoping to implement upon full release:
- Land ownership
- Resource farming
- Battling
- Polymon Capturing
- Resource & Polymon Trading
- Crafting
- Inter-island traveling
The scope of today’s Land Drop focuses on the first (and by association as you will see, the second) of this list, as we introduce an integral part of the future Polychain Islands ecosystem: Land Ownership.
1 — Land Ownership
Land is one of the most valuable assets in Polychain Islands — and the Polychain Monsters ecosystem. Land itself is divided into different islands, each of which are backed by an NFT. This makes them tradable, sellable and otherwise freely accessible, similar to the rest of the elements in the current Polychain Monsters universe.
Large collections of islands are grouped together into archipelagos. Each archipelago is differentiated from one another by its unique biomes. Today’s announcement, and the biome of our current Land Drop, revolves around the Grassland Archipelago, which can be found on the Ethereum blockchain.
The entirety of an archipelago consists of a number of three different island types. These are:
- Several large, Central Islands
- 1,000 player-owned Genesis Personal Islands
- 3,000 player-owned Personal Islands
At the center of each archipelago, there are large central islands where a lot of the bigger, multiplayer-focused attractions are based — such as the Polymon Wild Zone or the Polymon Arena. These central locations are designed for players to invite each other in order to create memorable multiplayer experiences together.
Scattered around these central islands are outcrops of many smaller islands. These smaller islands are player-owned and more single-player-centric in gameplay. Their most important feature focuses on the ability to farm important resources, which are integral to many of the other parts of the Polychain Islands gaming experience.
2 — Resource Farming
Aside from acting as a deed of ownership, player-owned islands house important things called resources. These resources have a multitude of use cases, both from a gameplay and Play-to-Earn perspective within Polychain Islands itself, to auxiliary factors throughout the rest of the Polychain Monsters ecosystem — such as enabling your Polymon to undergo rare, unique merges and transformations outside of the game.
Polychain Island resource uses include, and are not limited to:
- The ability to access certain in-game features (such as battling)
- The production of valuable goods and services
- The improvement of your Polymon
- Usage as auxiliary resources for the production of more valuable, advanced resources
- The creation, maintenance and improvement of other in-game assets
We will be able to provide more details on specifics in the future, but note that resources will play an integral part in many of the earning features both inside and outside Polychain Islands, including mechanics we’ve dubbed Earn-by-Ownership, Earn-by-Harvest and Earn-by-Stake (expect more info on this via a super-secret litepaper releasing soon).
Of the two types of islands available for player ownership, there is an important distinction to be made between Genesis and non-Genesis (Personal) Islands. While Genesis Islands have similar features as Personal Islands, they also natively generate our new $PML token. $PML tokens are the only way to mint Personal Islands and are hard-capped at the amount necessary to generate 3,000 islands in an archipelago.
We are also toying with other variables that are unique to Genesis Islands, such as exclusive guild ownership, branded land, custom gameplay rewards and potentially even guild-only access. For now, we can confirm that Genesis Islands are guaranteed to have at least one rare resource per instance. Personal Islands, on the other hand, will have a chance to hold rare resources, but without a guarantee.
If you have feedback or ideas on what you would like to see from these Genesis Islands, you are (of course) our target audience, and we would love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out to one of our team members or community managers on any of our social platforms and let us know how you feel.
Community members will be able to own their own Genesis Islands through a new token called $PMLG (Polychain Monsters Land Genesis). Exchanging 1,000 $PMLG will enable their owner to mint a Genesis Island through our new website portal.
As there are a variety of ways to interact with the Polychain Monsters ecosystem, we wish to reward each type of collecting method with their own chance to collect $PMLG. That being said, we have plans to incorporate three ways to earn $PMLG tokens:
- Part of the total $PMLG supply can be claimed weekly by our collector stakers in accordance with their collector scores.
- Part of the total $PMLG supply can be obtained by staking $PMON on Ethereum, BSC and Polygon.
- Part of the total $PMLG supply will be available in our Polymon booster packs.
Aside from their resource-generating utility, owning a Genesis Island enables you to mint $PML (Polychain Monsters Land) tokens at a set rate. Collecting enough $PML enables you to mint a Personal Island, which acts as a buildable NFT containing important Polychain Island resources.
As the total number of Genesis Islands is restricted by a hard-cap of 1,000 instances per archipelago, $PMLG, $PML and Personal Islands also exist in finite quantities. There can only ever be 3,000 Personal Islands per archipelago, and both $PMLG and $PML are limited in issuance to ensure that these quantities are kept as intended.
With the release of this announcement, we will officially commence the first opportunity our community has to snag a Genesis Island for themselves. Starting tomorrow, February 3rd, you may discover Land Tickets for the Grassland archipelago in Polymon booster packs on Ethereum, BSC and Polygon.
A Land Ticket can be swapped for the equivalent amount of $PMLG required to mint one Genesis Island on the Genesis Island minting portal — so, in essence, one Land Sale ticket is equal to one Genesis Island. Land Tickets are transferrable, so they may be traded and sold amongst eager buyers and sellers on third-party marketplaces. A detailed guideline on how to swap Land Tickets to $PMLG will be published soon.
For this Land Drop, there are a total of 200 Land Tickets to be found throughout our Polymon booster packs. 50 of these 200 tickets will be dispersed in four different release rounds, each with varying odds of discovery.
These release rounds, and their respective odds of discovering a Land Ticket in any given booster pack, are as follows:
- Round 1 —Odds of finding 1 of 50 Land Tickets = 1:400 booster packs
- Round 2 — Odds of finding 1 of 50 Land Tickets = 1:650 booster packs
- Round 3 — Odds of finding 1 of 50 Land Tickets = 1:1000 booster packs
- Round 4 — Odds of finding 1 of 50 Land Tickets = 1:3000 booster packs
Starting at 4:00 pm UTC on Thursday, February 3rd, the beginning of Round 1 will commence — easily the most lucrative of the release rounds to find and secure an early Genesis Island on the Grassland archipelago. Following the discovery of the first 50 Land Tickets, we will announce the end of Round 1 and the beginning of Round 2 (there may be a minor delay between rounds, so wait for our official announcement). This process will then be followed for the remaining rounds until all tickets have been claimed.
