Krafton, the developer behind the hugely popular PUBG series of games has announced plans to build its own open metaverse. Partnering with NAVER Z the mighty collaboration will create a massive NFT-powered virtual world built on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine.

The aim of the game is to build a high-resolution 3D social hub, where users can interact, socialize and compete in high-level gaming. In addition, the team will also build a suite of user development tools centered around creating fan-made content.

NAVER Z has considerable expertise in the area, being the powerhouse behind Asian metaverse, ZEPETO, a vast digital landscape where users interact via 3D avatars using AR tech. As a result, the platform currently boasts an incredible 290 million users worldwide. So, pulling on this valuable pool of knowledge, coupled with Krafton’s world building experience, the project should yield fantastic results.

“This partnership between KRAFTON and NAVER Z is bolstered by each company’s unique expertise and shared global focused as they look toward a future driven by NFTs and metaverses,” – HyungChul Park – Krafton.

It’s still early days for the Krafton, NAVER Z partnership and their exciting metaverse project. However, due to the considerable building blocks already in place, fans can expect development to proceed at lightening pace.
