Deputy, the superstar producer behind the hit Rihanna track, “Bitch Better Have My Money” (BBHMM), has teamed up with anotherblock to release NFTs that will offer fans a share of his streaming royalties. The limited edition NFTs will debut today, February 9, at 5 p.m. GMT. In total, the collection consists of 300 NFTs, each going for $210.

By purchasing one of these exclusive NFTs, owners will receive a 0.0033% share of the song’s future streaming royalties. That may seem like a small percentage, but it’s significant given that the song has already received over 1 billion streams across all platforms.

BBHMM was released in 2015 and managed to reach the top of the charts in eight countries before going triple platinum in the United States. Pitchfork has included it in the top 200 essential songs of the 2010s. It also managed to advance Deputy’s career as a producer.

On his collaboration with anotherblock, Deputy notes that “as a fan, you get a certain attachment to an artist or a song. When you get an opportunity to own a part of a song, it’s a game changer. It creates a whole different realm of being connected, outside of streaming or concerts.”

Michel D. Traore, cofounder and CEO of anotherblock, is equally enthused to be part of this drop.

“We’re thrilled to let more fans of groundbreaking tracks like ‘BBHMM’ connect with their favorite songs and support the creative people behind them in new ways through our drops.”

Music NFTs Have Been A Success

This is anotherblock’s fifth drop in less than six months. The royalty NFT platform allows fans to own a part of their favorite tracks. Previous editions have featured songs by the likes of the Weekend, Alan Walker, and Metro Booming, all of which sold out within minutes. The same is expected of these BBHMM NFTs, which debut ahead of Rihanna’s much-anticipated performance at the Super Bowl.

The drop comes just days after legendary hip hop star, Snoop Dogg, completed a similarly ambitious and wholly successful drop on the exciting Sound.xyz platform. So, if that was a litmus test for A-list musicians entering the NFT space, Rhianna’s new drop has the potential to go stratospheric.
