As many may remember, Minecraft’s parent company Mojang Studios announced last year that it would ban NFT integration on all of its servers. This put a damper on the NFT space given that Minecraft-themed NFTs formed the backbone of some very high profile Web3 projects. One of the hardest hit by this decision, NFT Worlds, has now eyeballed 2023 for an almighty comeback.
How NFT Worlds is Moving forward
When the news first dropped in July 2022, NFT Worlds revealed it would create its own platform or possibly integrate into an existing GameFi ecosystem. As per its recent announcements, it appears to have taken both routes as NFT Worlds will now build its blockchain infrastructure using gaming API Meta Fab, while also constructing its own underlying infrastructure.
How will NFT Worlds go mainstream in 2023 with our new game engine?
– Free 2 play
– Native + web browser support
– Very familiar game feel to Minecraft
– Way better dev experience vs Minecraft. No more armor stands 😂
– Spigot/bukkit compatible
– 100k+ players ready to play!— NFT Worlds (@nftworldsNFT) January 2, 2023
According to its latest update, the NFT Worlds’ 3D voxel realm will include compatibility with both Spigot and Bukkit, APIs commonly used by Minecraft players. These developments will all roll out in 2023 and come months after it severed ties with Minecraft. Despite the major Minecraft setback, NFT Worlds has maintained that it has a dedicated fanbase who are eager to get back to playing once the updates go live.
