Solana-based play-to-earn gaming platform MixMob announced the completion of its latest funding round, raising a total of $7 million. The round was led by DeFi-focused crypto-asset fund, Defiance Capital. The hefty sum raised will aid in the smooth roll-out of the game’s first phase in April 2022.
Funding Round
In addition to Defiance Capital, the round included contributions from the likes of Ascensive Assets, Not3lau Capital, and IOSG, as well as individuals such as Illuvium’s co-founder Kieran Warwick, Kyber ’s co-founder Loi Lui, and Danish Chaudhry, the CEO and founder of FMFW.io.
MixMob’s CEO and Game Director Simon Viera shared his enthusiasm about the successful round: “This appreciable injection of capital will allow us to achieve our strategic objectives over the coming months and years. The play-to-earn sector is showing no signs of slowing down, and by offering something vastly different to what already exists in the space, we firmly believe MixMob will prove to be a hit with the creative community”.
The Game
With Remix Culture, NFTs, culture magazines, deep lore and storytelling at its core, MixMob merges P2E gaming with user-generated content as it sets players on a mission to ‘re-chain our culture’ as they navigate across a world governed by a human-culture-destroying AI.
From a Card Battle Racing Game to a full MMO, players must join creative resistance movements in order to recoup a reimagined human culture, where the P2E mechanism will reward them for their skills and reflexes, as well as their creativity and style.
Within the game, players can use mutable NFT resistance masks which function as their unique identity within the metaverse, whilst MixMob’s colourful avatars provide holders with access to exclusive Discord channels, as well as early access to airdrops and rewards. In addition, all MixMob NFT owners will become members of the MixMob DAO.
The game is developed by Encore Studios, who have assembled an all-star development team with experience in developing companies, franchises and games such as FIFA, Halo, Disney and Nintendo.
Roadmap
Phase I of MixMob is being built around a strategy card racing game, whilst Phase II will see the dimensions of the game expand into a Fortnite-like world. The game’s mechanics, flows, tokenomics, and novel concept for land ownership will be in continuous development.
