Pixels, a multiplayer farming game that lets players use NFTs from other collections as their avatars, is currently running a play and earn airdrop. Gain points by playing the game, and if you’re on of the top twenty thousands players, earn an airdrop of tokens as a reward!

Backed by Animoca Brands, Pixels is a multiplayer, pixellated, farming game. One particularly interesting feature of Pixels is that it supports playable avatars from other NFT projects! So far they have already integrated several dozen projects including Pudgy Penguins, Cryptoadz, and many others. Connect your wallet with a qualifying NFT and play as that NFT in-game!

The upcoming airdrop for Pixels includes their two game tokens, $BERRY and $PIXEL. BERRY is the basic in-game currency and acquired by selling items at the in-game store. PIXEL is the premium currency, and used for upgrades, unlocks, and other special actions. At some point after the airdrop, PIXEL will be distributed to active players on a daily basis.

The top 20,000 wallets with the most points receive the airdrop. Players earn points by playing the game, owning land, and earning badges. The competition ends on October 31st, so there’s not much time left. But they will be running a double experience weekend from October 29th to the 31st, so there might still be a chance to claim one of those top 20k spots!

How to Play Pixels

Pixels is free to play. Just visit the site and connect your Polygon wallet to get started. You do need to complete an introductory quest. The basics are very similar to Stardew Valley and Sunflower Land. Players plant seeds, water them, harvest crops, plant more seeds, craft simple items, sell them, buy more expensive seeds, and so on, up the crafting chain.

Players do have limited energy. Energy gets used every time you plant, water or harvest and replenishes naturally at the rate of 1% every 5 minutes. Players can also consume various items to give them more energy.

Pixels offers public farms, available to everyone, with 24 crop squares to grow on. Even though the space is public, every player has their private, instanced set of farming squares to use. However, public lands have a 20% tax rate. That means that anytime you harvest a crop, there is a 20% chance that it will go to the public land instead of the player. There are also player owned farms that offer lower tax rates.

In addition, there is a main, public town a shop and a few quests. The game is still in the early stages of development. At the moment, it’s mostly about growing crops and learning new cooking recipes. But the team has expansion plans ahead including pets, foraging, breeding flowers, a skill system, space ownership and decoration, mini-games, and more!
