Sergio “Kun” Aguero, the former Argentinian professional football player, has announced his gaming metaverse on The Sandbox. The Kunivers has been developed in partnership with Eter Studio, an Argentinian creative agency. The first version of the Kuniverse will be launched on November 6, 2022, and will include an NFT collection and football gaming experiences.
Since he joined Manchester City, the Argentine striker has been a top goal scorer in each season and became a legend. After his retirement, Kun launched KRU, a new esports club, and continues to connect with his fans through new technologies.
About the Kuniverse
Kuniverse is a gaming metaverse where fans worldwide can participate in football tournaments and play games related to Kun. The first Kuniverse drop will consist of 932 NFT avatars.
Players can use these NFTs to access esports tournaments and music events. Each avatar will have five levels of rarities, such as Football Kun, E-Kun, Future Kun, Robot Kun, and Special Kun, in the order of decreasing rarities. The Avatars represent the different styles and attires of Sergio Kun.
A public sale of the avatar NFTs will occur in the first week of November. Players who sign up for the whitelist in the Kun Aguero Discord server will get access to the presale 24 hours before the original sale. A single player can buy a maximum of 5 NFTs.
“The metaverse and Web3 open up infinite universes to connect with people from all over the world and build fun digital communities, where everyone has the freedom to build their characters as they prefer.”
– Sergio Kun Agüero
Sergio Kun himself will have an active role in Kuniverse. He will welcome players by playing live and sharing content through his Twitch channel. A lucky draw will also be carried out in Kuniverse in which players will get a chance to meet Kun on a trip to the Qatar World Cup.
Recent sports-related partnerships of The Sandbox
The Sandbox is becoming quite popular among sports celebrities to launch the metaverse for their fans. For example, the renowned skateboarder Tony Hawks launched his virtual skate park for fans on The Sandbox. Stan Wawrinka, the three-time Grand Slam champion, also joined the NFT space by launching the “Ballman Project” on The Sandbox, an NFT collection of 5555 unique digital tennis players that give owners a chance to play in virtual tennis tournaments and win prizes.
