Gods Unchained announced a new, upcoming, winter-themed mini-set called Winter Wanderland. This set comes in boosters of three cards, with twenty total cards to find that all tie into a new section of official lore!

Gods Unchained brings some winter-themed cheer to their players with a new, limited edition booster set. This set, called, Winter Wanderland set launches on December 14th, runs through January 20th, and includes 20 new cards.

This set was designed in conjunction with a new section of Lore about Orfeo becoming trapped in the Winter Wanderland. You can read it here. Only some of the cards have been revealed so far, but they look great, and they may even cause some shifting of the meta!

Winter Wanderland Sale

Players can buy Winter Wanderland booster packs when the sale starts, and they can also win booster packs by playing weekend ranked or completing the daily quest.

Winter Wanderland packs are limited in number. For the sale, there will be 120,000 regular boosters, and 5,000 shiny boosters available. Any unpurchased packs at the end of the sale will be burned forever.

In addition, the GU team has reserved another 32,000 regular and 50 shiny boosters to hand out for bonus, weekend ranked rewards and other promotions over the next few weeks. Any of these packs that aren’t used will also be burnt at the end of the sale.

The sale begins with an initial discount of 10%. This discount decreases as more packs are bought, up through the first $1 million in purchases. After that, all packs are full price.

Since this is a limited set, these booster packs only contain three cards. However, there are no Commons in this set. Every card is Rare of higher. Basic booster packs of three cards cost $9.99, while the Shiny booster pack costs $99.99. All of the cards in the Shiny pack are guaranteed to be Shadow, Gold, or Diamond quality. The odds of receiving higher rarity cards are also greater with Shiny packs.

Trinkets and Winning Booster Packs

In addition, we have trinket rewards! Players win the Frozen Vibrant Fruit Trinket the first time they open a pack and find a Gold or Diamond Legendary (both purchased and won packs count). And the first 600, unique players who trade (actually trade, not just list) a Legendary Winter Wanderlands card will receive the Unexpected Gift trinket. The Unexpected Gift promotion runs only from December 24th, 4pm PT, until January 1st, 4pm PT.

As for ranked weekend rewards, the Gods Unchained team plans to hand out Winter Wanderlands packs to players who hit certain milestones. Anyone who earns a Legendary, Mortal Judgment pack during the ranked weekend event will also receive three Winter Wanderland boosters. Those who don’t meet that criteria, but did manage to earn an Epic Mortal Judgement pack receive one booster pack.

On top of that, there is also a chance for anyone to win a booster pack. Each day, up to 1,000 players who complete their daily, play and earn matches, have a chance to win a bonus pack. This promotion also only runs from December 24th through January 1st.

And it is always important to remember that every new Gods Unchained card set goes through a balancing phase where the cards’ stats and abilities can change before the set becomes permanently locked. This balancing phase generally lasts for six or more weeks

Candy Chain Community Event

Gods Unchained also introduces their first community collaboration event with this set. Called the Candy Chain event, this community project ties into the Winter Wanderland lore. Players must win a number of matches with each God to break each of the six chains and help Orfeo escape. This is 500,000 games with each of the six Gods. There is also a task to play 250k matches using a Winter Wanderland card. If the GU player community completes all of the Candy Chain tasks, there will be a special, secret reward sent to all participants.
