This seems to be the summer of alpha tournaments! The latest offering, from a strategy game called Wizardia, includes a reward pool of NFTs as well as 100,000 WZRD tokens. The top twenty players take home the prizes, but everyone who can field a team of Wizards has a chance to place.

Wizardia launches straight into a play to earn economy with their alpha release. Players who enter the tournament must face off against AI opponents in twenty battles. The result of each battle is scored based on remaining health for the player’s Wizards and the number of their Wizards that survived. The sum score for all battles equates to their tournament score. If a player doesn’t like their final score, they can buy another entry ticket and try again.

Players buy entry tickets with BNB, USDC, USDT, or WZRD tokens ($10 USD equivalent). Each tickets allows one tournament round of twenty battles. This tournament is PvE only. The top 20 players earn WZRD tokens. The top 10 receive Epic NFTs.

Participation requires owning three Wizard NFTs. These are still available in the official store, starting at $77 for a common Wizard, though some options are already sold out.

This tournament runs until September 9th, 2022, 23:59 UTC. Everyone can view the current leaderboard on the tournaments page and see where they stand.

And this is not just a one time thing. Wizardia plans on running monthly tournaments as a core part of their gameplay offerings. So head on over to the Wizardia website to create an account and prepare you team for battle!

What is Wizardia?

Wizardia is a play and earn game running on the Binance Chain. In Wizardia, players field teams of three Wizards. In this turn-based strategy game, players use abilities, spells, and items to try and destroy the other team. Last team standing is declared the winner.

Wizardia plans to build their economy around renting Wizards, selling Wizards, and, of course, playing the game. And, as become the standard for blockchain games, Wizardia will feature breeding (summoning), allowing Original Wizard holders the opportunity to generate new Wizards.

There are currently seven different Original Wizards for sale, in rare, epic, and legendary varieties. Original Wizards are limited supply, and have better attributes. In the future, newly summoned Wizards will be 90% common.

Wizards can level up as they gain experience and come in one of three affinities – Body, Mind and Soul. These work in a rock-paper-scissors manner where each affinity has an advantage against another. In this case, Body beats Mind which beats Soul which beats Body. There is still plenty of strategy involved in regards to targeting, spell timing, and such. But having at least one Wizard with an affinity advantage in a fight can make a huge difference.

The team plans to build out their tournament system, including weekly challenges. And also implement a PvP dueling system where players wager WZRD against their opponent.
