With YGG’s latest land acquisition in Heroes of Mavia, the guild secures a place for its members in a play-to-earn MMO strategy game, in a world crafted by Skrice Studios, that takes fantasy elements from the popular mobile strategy base-building game Clash of Clans.
YGG has invested US$50,000 in the seed round of Mavia and engaged in a YGG/RUBY token swap worth US$25,000 which will help the YGG community participate in the game. The guild also purchased US$330,000 worth of NFT land assets in the game, which includes Common bases, Rare bases, and Legendary bases. Out of these, the Legendary bases acquired will be designed with custom YGG branding. The game’s development team will work closely with YGG in providing scholars with a strong suite of tools and the support they need to seamlessly engage in Mavia’s game economy.
“We are thrilled to have YGG partner with Mavia, as we increasingly focus on involving a wide spectrum of players into the game,” said Yvan Feusi, executive director of Skrice Studios, the game studio behind Mavia. Skrice Studios leads a team of over 40 artists who have designed AAAs ranging from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Arcane, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and Final Fantasy XV. “We designed the Mavia ecosystem with guilds and scholars in mind, and YGG’s community of play-to-earn gamers will make a perfect fit for our land-partnership program, allowing players to enter the game without needing to purchase land upfront,” he said.
The game Heroes of Mavia is set in a fantasy-themed island called Mavia, where players skillfully construct bases on plots of land to challenge other bases and armies to earn in-game resources, such as Gold, Oil, and Mavia’s in-game cryptocurrency, RUBY.
According to YGG head of partnerships, Sarutobi Sasuke, “As a game built with scholars in mind, it aligns with our vision and the YGG community at large. The Mavia web platform will lend itself as a key tool for guilds to seamlessly coordinate and play together, and it will offer instant RUBY deposits, performance monitoring, Telegram and Discord push notifications, and NFT management controls that will greatly benefit managers and scholars alike.”
Similar to Clash of Clans, players build and grow their bases, train armies, and battle other players across the Mavia island. As the player’s base and army grow, they are able to attack more challenging opponents and earn more RUBY in return, which can be used to upgrade the base itself and create special super-troops called Heroes.
Players must strategically place defensive buildings on their bases such as walls, turrets, and traps, in order to protect the bases from land troops, vehicles, and air units and players looking to steal resources. RUBY is earned through battling enemy armies and can be used to upgrade Land, Statue and Hero NFTs.
RUBY is the in-game rewards currency that allows players to upgrade their NFTs, rewarding them for successful attacks and milestones in the game. It is awarded to players on any successful offensive battle and decisive defensive victory. Furthermore, when RUBY is earned, it is placed in the “RUBY Chest” on the player’s base, and this can only be collected by the player every 72 hours. When RUBY is stored in the chest, it is vulnerable and can be looted by neighboring bases, so it is important that players strategically place their defensive structures on the base to prevent rivals from stealing their earned rewards. This game mechanic forces players in Mavia to master their defensive placement of buildings on their base and devise offensive strategies to raid enemy bases and steal their resources.
MAVIA is the governance token, giving holders the ability to vote on important decisions and direct the future of Mavia. As the only currency used to exchange NFTs on the Mavia marketplace, this token cannot be earned via in-game activities.
Mavia is planning for a private beta in Q2 2022, public beta in Q3 2022, and a global launch in Q4 2022, where the game will be available on desktop web, iOS, and Android.
