NFT firm, Candy Digital, has shaken off its earlier troubles by joining forces with legendary picture purveyor, Getty Images. Together, launching an NFT collection based on curated photos of legendary musicians of the ‘70s and the photographers that took them. Fans of music and photography can expect to access rare snapshots of rock icons such as Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, James Brown, and many others.

Getty Images boasts an expansive catalog of stock photos, and this is what proved quite appealing to Candy Digital. The NFT firm has focused on sports collectibles since its launch in late 2021, but now it is expanding its reach into music photography.

Candy Digital, will offer the curated collection of photos via an open-edition mint scheduled for March 21. It’s the result of a partnership between Getty and Candy that was initially announced last May.

Candy Digital Aims to Explore a New Avenues

According to Scott Lawin, Candy’s CEO, “We’re really excited about the fact that we’re talking to a different type of audience. The way we’ve thought about our partnerships, it really is creating opportunities for people to not just go deep in a category that they love, but also discover and collect across different types of content and IP.”

Lawin goes on to add that this is a long-term partnership that Candy Digital will seek to build on over time. His firm is quite keen to explore the millions of photos contained in the Getty archives, some of which are decades old and cover various subjects.

A distinguishing aspect of this collection is that it will feature the work of six photographers, including David Redfern and Fin Costello, rather than being organized around musical talents such as Jimi Hendrix or the Rolling Stones. Also, these unlimited collectibles will be priced between $25 to $200, with scarcity built around the waiting period to land a desired piece.
