Professional football’s largest governing body, FIFA, will launch an NFT platform in the run up to this year’s World Cup, bringing a slew of ‘affordable, inclusive and accessible’ digital collectibles to the football adoring masses.

According to the organization, the new ‘FIFA+ Collect’ platform will arrive later in September, drawing its power from the mighty Algorand Blockchain to enable carbon neutral minting of NFTs. The result will be a world spanning marketplace that encapsulates the true spirit of the goliath sporting occasion.

Through its services, footy fans can collect a whole range of World Cup-themed collectibles, including memorable moments, and art and imagery, from its colossal store of archived materials, in addition to pivotal achievements during this year’s spectacle, due to commence this November in Qatar.

The ‘Connect’ side of its enterprise will launch via the wider FIFA+ platform. A bespoke footballing portal designed as a vehicle for fans from all walks of life to engage with the sport. Therefore, making itself available to a global audience through all web and mobile devices in a multitude of different languages.
