The former first lady of the United States has become the latest celebrity to enter into the weird, wide world of NFTs. After a year that saw countless influential names become involved in the non-fungible ecosystem, Melania Trump has launched her own NFT platform.

Having taken to social media today, Melania announced the launch of her new platform, which will be integrated into her existing website MelaniaTrump.com. In conjunction with the launch, she has also minted her first NFT and initiated an auction for the piece that will last until midnight on New Year’s Eve.

The NFT, which features an illustration from leading fashion artist Marc-Antoine Coulon and an inspirational recording from Melania herself, was minted on Solana before being placed on auction today, Dec. 16. Many in the NFT community are feeling uneasy about the former first lady’s first public endeavor since leaving office almost one year ago.

Yet, the NFT, which is titled “Melania’s Vision,” brings with it an air of philanthropy — as a portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to support children in the foster care community. And as Melania plans to drop NFTs on a regular basis via her new platform, it’s very possible we’ll see continuing efforts from her to raise money for various charities.

Considering December has been quite a month NFTs — with Pak setting a new world record, Nike being acquired RTFKT and now Melania’s debut NFT — the entirety of the non-fungible community will surely be watching closely for another landmark event as the countdown to 2022 begins.
