This latest news has led to excitement and speculation in Twitter’s NFT circles. Given that not much information about the collaboration has been revealed, many enthusiasts couldn’t help but speculate on what this partnership will bring. However, based on what has previously transpired with similar brands that have ventured into the Metaverse, it’s possible Gucci plans to integrate its fashion items into the Yuga Labs ecosystem.
Gucci Keen on Exploring Opportunities in the Metaverse
This collaboration is exciting for Gucci, which gets to explore various opportunities that might exist between fashion and entertainment on Yuga Lab’s Metaverse, the Otherside. This enthusiasm is reflected in the sentiments of the leading faces heading Gucci and Yuga Lab’s Web3 efforts.
Commenting on the partnership, Robert Triefus, senior executive vice president at Gucci, notes, “We are excited to unveil this multifaceted partnership with Yuga Labs, a leader and creative pioneer in web3.” While, Michael Figge, chief creative officer at Yuga Labs, is equally excited by the collaboration, noting, “We’re looking forward to showcasing how that partnership extends to endless opportunities in Otherside.”
As mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first time Gucci will be scouring for opportunities in the Metaverse. In the recent past, the company teamed up with 10KFT to design its Gucci Grail project, which offers digital wearables that collectors can use to dress up their NFTs.
By collaborating with a leading force within Web3, it shows Gucci is keen on being at the forefront of the Web3 revolution lest they fall behind to competitors such as Louis Vuitton and Prada, who are already actively exploring Metaverse opportunities.
