In the two weeks since the last DAO Committee report, two points of interest (POI) have been added to the Decentraland map, four grant proposals were approved, one name was banned, one catalyst has been added to the network, and five community polls have passed.
On January 14, the Decentraland DAO held its monthly town hall. During this event, the resignation of a DAO Committee Member was announced, and process for appointing new members discussed. A proposal to approve the process for adding a new member to the DAO Committee will be submitted in the near future, and a call for applicants/nominations opened.
The Decentraland DAO Discord server is now open, and can be accessed here: https://discord.gg/ZdzKgYE5Q3. In the server all current and past grantees can find a thread with the details of their grant.
Finally, the DAO Committee has announced an open call for Delegates. VP Delegation has been active since July 2021, however, only 23 accounts have received VP via delegation for a total of 1.6M VP, which is a very small percentage of the total circulating VP. The Call for Delegates aims to showcase members of the Decentraland community that would like to actively participate in the governance process, and receive VP delegation. Delegate profiles will be listed in the future Governance dApp for easy access. Those interested in serving as a Delegate should submit their profile information via the Delegate forum post.

Polls
Should the treasury give away free mana to holders who vote on the DAO?
- Yes 69% 456,316 VP (31 votes)
- No 30% 200,434 VP (22 votes)
Members of the DAO have voted to “give away free MANA” to holders who vote in the DAO. This proposal does not include a clear implementation pathway and can be resubmitted as a detailed drat proposal or grant proposal to fund a pilot program.
Land Sale over Periodic Payments
- Good Idea 59% 566,232 VP (19 votes)
- Bad Idea 41% 394,757 VP (7 votes)
Members of the DAO have voted to develop a smart contract that allows for incremental payments toward purchased LAND over an extended period of time, similar to a mortgage system. This service can be implemented as a third-party dApp or parallel marketplace, and funded by a DAO grant. Those interested in undertaking this task are encouraged to submit a grant request proposal.
God mode view
- Yes! 99% 614,098 VP (20 votes)
- No! 0% 137 VP (1 votes)
- Invalid question/options 0% 2,438 VP (3 votes)
Members of the DAO have requested a feature that enables “god mode,” allowing for scaling of perspective on the map. Implementation of this feature could cause performance issues, increasing the number of features that are rendered. Those interested in this feature are encouraged to submit a grant proposal to fund an alternative client version optimized for this feature. This site, for example, has been created as a fork of the reference client, the code of which is open source.
Add Search Bar to Proposals Page
- Yea 100% 538,864 VP (27 votes)
- Nay 0% 0 VP (0 votes)
Members of the DAO have requested a feature to allow for searching of proposals in the DAO governance platform. This feature requested has been communicated to the Governance Squad team, and added to the development backlog.
Should decentraland marketplace have an option for leasing names ?
- Yes 53% 452,477 VP (32 votes)
- No 46% 391,491 VP (6 votes)
Members of the DAO have expressed some support for a feature allowing leasing of names through the Decentraland Marketplace. This poll was made explicitly as a gauge of community opinions and will not be implemented. A working group investigating the question of names, including pricing and associated voting power is currently forming in the recently established dedicated DAO discord server.
