The world’s most iconic photographic publication, LIFE Magazine, has teamed up with the KnownOrigin marketplace. The duo will launch a set of ground-breaking non-fungible tokens based on its vast portfolio of images.

The LIFE picture collection will grace the blockchain on April 14 in an exclusive non-fungible experience, arriving in tandem with a virtual ‘LIFE’ exhibition at the KnownOrigin gallery in Decentraland. As a result, bringing with it some of the most mesmerizing cover images in its illustrious history.

LIFE’s collection will feature digital renderings of some of its greatest ever published pictures. Landing on the blockchain as a celebration of the 20th century, from Life’s transition to photography publication in 1936 up until the year 2000. The drop will showcase classic images from its golden era in the American consciousness.

KnownOrigin’s launch will initially see a set of ultra-rare NFTs auctioned to the highest bidder. Then followed by a set of limited editions with a fixed price for the wider audience. Following the sale, the team will neutralize all minting and sales emissions via a carbon offset program, while a portion of proceeds will benefit a range of worthy causes chosen by the good folk over at LIFE. The first of which will see disadvantaged girls learn to read via the Malala Fund.
