Mastercard’s innovative Web3 music initiative, The Mastercard Artist Accelerator, is set to conclude with an exciting showcase this month. The program will feature five international artists, empowering emerging artists by equipping them with essential tools and skills to navigate the digital economy. Each artist will debut their AI-driven single during a live-streamed event. The Mastercard Artist Accelerator Showcase Presented by Billboard is scheduled for Thursday, July 27, at 3 p.m. ET.
Integration of AI and Web3 in the Music Creation Process
The Artist Accelerator Program took a distinctive creative approach to producing the performed tracks. Each artist crafted a unique single using the AI Music Studio, developed by generative AI music technologies leader WarpSound. The showcase concludes the community-centric Web3 program, which successfully saw over 100,000 people mint the limited-edition, multisensory Mastercard Music Pass NFT. Each song performed during the live showcase will be available for claim as an NFT on the OneOf Marketplace on July 27.
Each participating artist added a personal touch to their tracks by incorporating the Mastercard sonic DNA into their creations and providing creative direction for their singles’ cover art. This exercise was part of a novel curriculum. It equipped the artists with skills to create and own their brand through Web3 experiences such as minting NFTs, representing themselves in virtual worlds, and fostering an engaged community.
Showcasing the Artists
In April, we reported on Mastercard’s innovative steps into Web3 music with the launch of a limited-edition Mastercard NFT at NFT.NYC 2023. This marked the start of this ambitious project. Mastercard’s commitment to leveraging blockchain and Web3 technologies for the betterment of the music industry and the artist community is now bearing fruit. The imminent showcase of the artists’ work stands as a testament to their vision.
The showcase will feature an impressive roster of artists from the inaugural class of the Mastercard Artist Accelerator. These include Young Athena, a London-based R&B soul singer and BRIT School alumna; LeriQ, a Nigerian R&B and afrobeat record producer and songwriter; Cocoa Sarai, a Brooklyn-born American-Jamaican songstress; Emily Vu, a Vietnamese American pop-artist advocating for LGBTQ+ rights; and Manu Manzo, a Venezuelan pop singer, songwriter, and producer.
Mastercard’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Raja Rajamannar, expressed his enthusiasm for the program and its influence on the music industry, stating, “We’ve seen how emerging technology can push creativity to new heights and give us opportunities to connect with people in exciting ways. Throughout this program, these artists have explored an entirely new space that will have lasting impact on the music industry and we’re thrilled that we were a part of their journey.”
Final Thoughts
It’s essential to recognize the program’s impact within the broader context. This initiative is a significant stride in leveraging blockchain and Web3 technologies, a strategy we reported on back in April with launching a limited-edition Mastercard NFT. The Artist Accelerator program’s success underscores the potential and versatility of these technologies within the music industry and beyond.
As we look forward to the showcase, we cannot ignore the vibrant artist roster ready to claim its place in the Web3 music landscape. The showcase will present their creative endeavours, celebrating not just the program’s culmination but also the beginning of these artists’ journeys into the digital music industry.
