Lionsgate, the movie studio behind the upcoming sci-fi disaster film, ‘Moonfall,’ have partnered with IMAX cinemas to provide attendees of the film’s preview showings with an exclusive, on-brand NFT. To create the NFTs, the blockbuster partnership beckoned the services of Autograph, the pioneering digital collectibles brand owned by Tom Brady.

The IMAX preview showings of the film take place on February 3rd, where each moviegoer in attendance will receive a limited-edition and unique ‘Moonfall NFT’. Each NFT will be a uniquely identifiable ‘commemorative section of the moon’s lunar crust’, an out-of-this-world concept inspired by the film’s premise.

If you’re wanting to catch the first glimpse of the movie, or simply wanting to get your hands on the novel NFT (or perhaps both), you must first buy a ‘First Advance Night IMAX Showings’ ticket to the movie, which went on sale on January 25th. The tickets can be purchased via participating ticket brokers such as Fandango, Atom Tickets, AMC, Regal, Cinemark, as well as participating regional chains. Unfortunately, the promotion is only available at U.S. IMAX locations.

The promotion is part of a broader partnership between Lionsgate and Autograph, which is designed to bring fans closer to the world’s most legendary blockbuster franchises through blockchain technology. Preceding this initiative, the partnership released a curated compilation of 10,000 NFTs as part of the ‘Saw Chapter One’ NFT collection, and it has plans to to drop more exclusive content from iconic films and television series in the months to come. Make sure to watch this space.
