Sixth Wall, the digital arm of actress Mila Kunis’ Orchard Farm Productions, is launching an NFT series called ‘The Gimmicks’. Produced in partnership with Web3 animation studio Toonstar, the series will follow a group of washed up professional wrestlers as they attempt to gain the spotlight once again with ‘The Gimmicks’ NFT holders having the ability to shape the direction of the show.
At the end of each episode, owners of a The Gimmicks, Solana-residing NFT will be able to vote on which story path or character arc the next segment on the series will take, with a leaderboard also being rendered to highlight top contributors.
To distribute the NFTs, as well as to establish the series’ community, Toonstar and Sixth Wall will release 10,000 free NFTs on March 18th, with each depicting a unique character. The first episode will then air a week later on March 25th. The Gimmicks’ video content will not be entirely exclusive to NFT holders, although such holders will gain 7-day early access to episodes before the wider public.
With regards to the premise of the show, The Gimmicks is a series of three-minute animated shorts, inspired by the real-life stories of pro wrestlers Luke ‘Doc’ Gallows and Karl ‘Machine Gun’ Anderson, who were both released by the WWE at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. After their releasing, the two wrestlers proposed a series idea about their disgruntled redundancy to the production company, which Sixth Wall then leveraged to create the show’s premise.
Due to their inspiration, Gallows and Anderson are featured as voice actors in the series, alongside fellow wrestlers FKA Enzo Amore and Rocky Romero.
Kunis previously dabbled in the NFT space with the launch of Stoner Cats, 10,420 algorithmically generated feline pot advocates with a penchant for recreational narcotics. Although the project was launched with a mint price of 0.35 ETH, the floor price currently sits at 0.259 ETH. Perhaps, The Gimmicks series will have a better fate.
