Sports apparel giant Puma has taken its first steps into the realm of Web3 via the purchasing an ENS domain. The company revealed its eyes-for-crypto by changing its Twitter handle to the newly acquired domain name, which reads ‘Puma.eth,’ placing it as the 13th most-followed account to include ‘.eth’ in its name, behind the likes of Paris Hilton and Shaquille O’Neal.

As a result of their ENS domain acquisition, the company’s fresh new wallet has seen 18 NFTs join its ranks, which aptly, all include feline elements to them. The most notable additions to the wallet include Gutter Cat #1110 (purchased for 7.25 ETH), Cool Cat #32 (purchased for 14 ETH), and Lazy Lion #4609 (purchased for 2.5 ETH).

To firmly cement the company’s fever for all things NFT, it has also announced its plans to collaborate with Catblox to release its inaugural NFT collection, however, details of the project are yet to be revealed.

Puma’s plunge into the metaverse differs from that of its closest rivals Nike and Adidas, who each made their dive into the space via explicit NFT-inspired moves, as Nike acquired virtual sneakers brand RTFKT to launch an NFT collection, whilst Adidas launched a collection in collaboration with the likes of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Gmoney, and Punk Comics.
