Las Vegas founded electronic music act The Crystal Method are about to drop the first music video NFT from a major label. The music video in question is the one behind the act’s new lead single ‘Watch Me Now,’ and will go up for auction on MakersPlace, the go-to marketplace for rare and authentic digital artworks.
The NFT will drop on April 26th at 3:30PM PT. The auction’s lucky winner will also receive a limited edition animation and open edition cell from the video.
The video itself is a unique visual experience which uses a creative blend of 2D, 3D, black and white, and vivid colour animations to depict a love letter to the group’s native Nevada. In doing so, a narrative involving a dishevelled woman being dropped off in the neighbouring Californian Mojave desert manifests itself, which goes on to see her call upon the powers of her ‘Crystal Ship,’ where she then wreaks havoc on Area 51 before rocketing off in pursuit of The Crystal Method’s tour bus.
In anticipation of the landmark drop, the act’s co-founder Scott Kirkland has spoken on his excitement for the project, where he also adds a nod to the artist behind the video’s artwork: “My first NFT release is a collaboration with the brilliant animated artist Micah Monkey and will be dropping on April 26th. Micah has created an epic and exhilarating visual companion for my rousing riff driven new single, “Watch Me Now” feat Koda & VAAAL. As the lyrics state, ‘This Ain’t No Joke!’”
