The Haunted Hills Collector Challenge Voting Results are Live

As you might recall, last October we created a special new background for our community to find Polymon in booster packs during the spooky Halloween season. This feature accompanied a brand new staking challenge, which rewarded users based on how many different Polymon they collected with the Haunted Hills background. The point rewards for this staking challenge originally looked a little something like this:

So, what was the problem? As we launched the Halloween challenge relatively quickly prior to Halloween itself, we tried to balance the collector staking points for the event as best as we could. However, as time passed, various members of our community presented legitimate arguments against the current point distribution and asked us to take another look at it.

Thus, we decided this would be a perfect opportunity to mobilize our newest Collector DAO and have the community vote on a proposed balance change to better align Haunted Hills with the rest of our collector staking challenges.

With the community’s feedback in mind, we decided to offer four options in the DAO proposal, which would allow everyone to choose how the Halloween point distribution should be adjusted. The proposal we suggested, and the options we offered, were the following:

How should we adjust the current Halloween challenge base point levels?

Option 1: Keep 100% of the current Halloween base point levels

Option 2: Reduce the Halloween points to 75% of their current base point levels

Option 3: Reduce the Halloween points to 50% of their current base point levels

Option 4: Reduce the Halloween points to 25% of their current base point levels

We opted to use a ranked-choice voting system for this poll, which meant if a voter’s primary option was the least popular of the four, their points would be rolled over into their second choice, and so on, until there were only two options left — with the majority choice winning the vote. This was done to prevent only the most polarizing options from being attractive to vote for, as without ranked-choice, the 75% and 50% choices would most likely be unfairly matched (as seen from the results below).

The voting began on January 5th, 12pm UTC, and ended on January 9th, 7 pm UTC). The results of the vote were as follows:

The winner of the Collector DAO vote was Option 4 with over 70% of all voting power. This means the new maximum amount of points for the 2021 Halloween staking challenge will be reduced to 250,000 (25% of the old maximum of 1 million), and all other tiers will be reduced similarly.
