World renowned global travel platform, Trip.com, as announced its first ever NFT collection tailored specifically for regular travelers. Through the ‘Trekki’ NFT campaign, globetrotters will be able to accrue valuable rewards as they circumnavigate our glorious orb.

According to a press release, the new NFT collection will look to connect Web3 native digital nomads around the world. While additionally, operating as a loyalty program for holders, who will unlock additional benefits the more they travel.

The collection itself features a variety of dolphin-themed characters known as ‘Trekki.’ Each of which, will feature a travel inspired background based on locations from destinations far and wide. When they arrive, collectors can acquire an NFT via a blind box mint, with various rarities signifying different levels of rewards.

Trip.com Dives Headlong into the World of NFTs

The Trekki drop isn’t Trip.com’s only flirtation with the Web3 domain, as it also recently formed a bond with the Prime Planet NFT collection. Through this parallel endeavor, holders will also be able to unlock unique benefits that Trip.com will unveil at a later date.

This recent move into the Web3 space marks an ongoing trend of NFTs revolutionizing the travel industry. Over the course of the last year or so, NFTs have proved useful as flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations and loyalty schemes.

Now, as a global force in tourism, it looks like Trip.com will bring its own unique take to the NFT-based rewards program.
