Retail behemoth, Walmart, and cutting-edge creative hub People of Crypto Lab (POClab) are uniting their strengths to create Cultureverse. This immersive virtual venture pays tribute to 50 years of hip-hop and honors the influential influence of black culture on not only music but also art and fashion. 

Set to spotlight this September, the Walmart x POClab Cultraverse will premiere on the interactive virtual odyssey Spatial. The main aim behind the Metaverse is for the powerhouses to extend their ongoing commitment to groups historically pushed to the margins, triggering a paradigm shift through meaningful virtual connections while saluting cultural heritage. 

Sharing Values to Push Forward

POClab has been at the surface of combining culture and technology since 2021, evidently with MetaPride, which spotlighted the world’s first Pride festival in the Metaverse. Renowned partners that partook in this initial freedom and expressional carnival online encompassed the celebrated Animoca Brands and The Sandbox, among others — so, what better creative studio to foster positive change than POClab?

On the other side of the store, Walmart will use its Black & Unlimited platform to magnify the potential of black creators, artists, and entrepreneurs. Through bespoke programming and exceptional partnerships woven into the Cultureverse encounter, the mega-retailer strives to promote real-world influence through the digital realm, bolstering a new era of impact and influence. When filing for its Metaverse trademark in January 2022, this wasn’t what consumers were expecting.

The yearly hip-hop music festival Rock the Bells has also jumped on board for the Walmart x POClab Cultureverse — alongside other collaborators with the same ethos. Such partnerships enrich Metaverse experiences and showcase the potential of unity between culture and technology for future generations.
