Social media mega-platform, Instagram, has continued to brush the fringes of the NFT realm. The latest titbit coming from the platform’s oligarch himself.

In order to make Instagram more accessible to the non-fungible world, it’s exploring ways to integrate NFTs into its platform. A company, which on the face of it is poised perfectly to adopt this ground-breaking new technology.

During an informal “ask me anything” session, users quizzed Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, on the possible use of NFTs within the Instagram platform, to which he responded by revealing that they were exploring the possibility of making NFTs accessible to a broader audience, revealing that NFTs are “an interesting place that we can play, and also a way to, hopefully, help creators.”

The platform itself boasts a user base of over 2 billion unique accounts, processing an enormous amount of digital content, almost all of which is NFT compatible. Users therefore theorize that Instagram sees NFTs as an additional method for influencers to monetize their content. In addition, Instagram falls under the Facebook umbrella of enterprises. As a result, it is a given that Instagram will feature heavily in its well documented “metaverse” plans.
